SOME QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
A. Get in touch and tell us where, when and with how many people; JET TEAM carry out a quick analysis of your plans, looking at nearby airfields and suitable aircraft types, then go to the marketplace for price and availability of their aircraft. We normally come back to you same day with an indication of prices, providing at least three different aircraft options for you to consider. Once you’re happy with both the service offered, and important aspects like your cancellation conditions, we will book with the operator.
A. That depends on the route you have requested. We look at which aircraft are available on our marketplace software, then request each operator who is short-listed send us a formal quote. As an example, for a flight within central Europe it’s not unusual for us to contact 40+ operators, whereas fewer operators are capable of intercontinental flights, especially originating further afield.
A. If compared to an airline seat, yes. But the primary draw of private air travel isn’t its economy, it’s the convenience, comfort, and normally flexibility gained by chartering. When compared to buying several business-class or first-class equivalent airline tickets, the price gap can narrow dramatically, even before the immeasurable productivity benefits gained from time efficiency is added. A private aircraft can normally operate to your schedule, often from airports closer to home. Check-in time could be as short as 15-minutes before departure, and the experience both at the airport and onboard is much more refined.
As a rule, the further the distance the more likely the need for a larger aircraft, which will mean costs increase proportionately. An entry-level jet can carry 4-passengers across Europe comfortably, operating to airports that may not even be served by airlines.
A. When you book you’ll be advised of the cancellation terms, as dictated by the aircraft operator. The closer to the day of flight the higher the cancellation % fee, and normally anything less than 1-2 days before flight means you will pay 100% of the cost. Some operators may be sympathetic to a change in schedule, but they are also businesses, answerable to the aircraft owners and required to make money. Minor changes can often be accommodated, but anything more substantial will incur costs.
A. JET TEAM will provide you with a written brief ahead of your flight, detailing where you need to be and when. Unlike airline flights you don’t need to be at the airport several hours before take-off – sometimes you can report for the flight up to 20 minutes beforehand. Every airport is different, but many have VIP terminals for you to enjoy.
A. The total amount of luggage you can take depends on the size of aircraft you have booked. JET TEAM will advise you of limits during the booking process. If you plan to take bulky items like skis, it’s handy to know that from the start. Most modern aircraft have a reasonable amount of space for bags, but if you’re planning on taking a lot of size or weight the sooner we know that the better.
A. It depends by how much. In the event of a time change on the day, an operator normally has some flexibility, but may be constrained by airport slots and opening hours at either end of the trip, as well as other knock-on issues to other flights they may be performing. The operator will do their best to make it work, but may sometimes surcharge if, say, your delay causes them to need to night-stop before or after your flight, which they may not have priced-in before you changed the plan. More significant changes and delays may have to be re-quoted, with costs passed on. JET TEAM will give you all the advice you need, as part of our attentive service.
A. We’ll take a look at the weather the day before you fly, and be able to warn you if its marginal. Different airfields have different instrument capabilities, ranging from those that are only daylight, good weather airfields – say in the Alps – and others that have advanced approach navigation aids, allowing the crew to land in most conditions. We’ll discuss the situation with the aircraft operator and present you with some options. But be assured, the crew will only ever plan to fly somewhere safely, and they’re not allowed to even take-off if the weather at destination is outside of their instrument limits. They also carry enough fuel to divert if necessary.
